Growing the Trades of Tomorrow. Why Agile Homes Is Investing in the Next Generation.
Every home we build depends on skilled tradespeople. Electricians, plumbers, framers, and HVAC technicians are the people who turn a floor plan into a finished home. And right now the trades need people.
That is why Agile Homes has launched the Agile Homes Trades Apprenticeship Scholarship in partnership with Treasure Valley Community College. It is also why our General Manager Brian and Drafter TJ showed up at the Eastern Oregon Skilled Trades Day on September 23rd to talk to students directly about what a career in the trades actually looks like.
The Scholarship
The Agile Homes Trades Apprenticeship Scholarship is available to students enrolled in Treasure Valley Community College's Electrical or Plumbing Apprenticeship programs. Recipients can receive up to five hundred dollars toward TVCC class fees with an additional five hundred dollar award available for students who are apprenticing with Shilo Plumbing or Powerhouse Electric.
Priority is given to students with financial need and to students with a connection to the Boys and Girls Club of Ontario or Payette. We are hopeful that HVAC will be added as TVCC's Apprenticeship Program continues to grow.

The TVCC Programs
TVCC offers four year apprenticeship programs in both electrical and plumbing that are certified in Idaho and Oregon. The electrical program covers everything from basic theory and the National Electrical Code to advanced calculations and motor controls. The plumbing program takes students from the basics of water distribution all the way through the journeyman exam.
Both programs are designed to work alongside on the job training which means students are earning while they learn. Tuition is eleven hundred dollars for the electrical program and nine hundred dollars for plumbing with coursework available via Zoom for students working out of town.

Showing Up at Eastern Oregon Skilled Trades Day
On September 23rd Brian and TJ represented Agile Homes at the Eastern Oregon Skilled Trades Day hosted by Frontier STEM. The event brings together students and employers to explore career paths in the skilled trades and we were glad to be part of it.
For students who are curious about what a career in the trades looks like or who want to understand how their apprenticeship connects to real projects being built in their community, events like this matter. We enjoyed being there.
Why This Matters to Us
Our trade partners are the backbone of what we do. Some of them have been building alongside us for more than twenty years. Finding and investing in the next generation of skilled tradespeople is not just good for Agile Homes. It is good for the entire Treasure Valley.
